1. Sinovac & Pfizer’s Vaccines.

The first supply of the Sinovac vaccine will arrive in Malaysia on Feb 27, says science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin. Khairy, who is also the coordinating minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, said the Covid-19 vaccine developed by China’s Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd will be sent to Pharmaniaga Bhd for packaging. The agreement is for the supply of 14 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to be carried out through the fill-and-finish activity.

For Sinovac, the first bulk delivery will be taken to the Pharmaniaga manufacturing facility where it will be bottled and filled,” he said in an interview with BFM today. The vaccines have already left the Pfizer factory in Belgium. However, there are some transit points as they are carrying vaccines for other countries as well, and we will receive them on Feb 21. He said Malaysia will continue to receive subsequent batches from Pfizer every two weeks to reach one million doses by the end of this first quarter.

2. 4,000 Athletes And Officials Listed For Early Vaccination.

A list of 4,000 athletes and officials has been submitted for early vaccination under the national Covid-19 immunisation campaign, the youth and sports ministry said today. Its minister, Reezal Merican Naina Merican said the list is of those who will be representing the country at international competitions such as the Olympic Games, SEA Games and Asian Games. He said he had sent the list himself to science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin who is the coordinator of the immunisation programme. “He has to see through the roll out,” said Reezal.

And the early stage will be given to athletes and officials representing the country at world platforms such as the Olympic Games, SEA Games and Asian Games, he said. The immunisation programme begins on Feb 26, with the first batch of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine scheduled to arrive tomorrow morning. Reezal said football supporters would be allowed to enter stadiums to watch matches when the Covid-19 situation has gradually recovered and is under control.
